The South West Development Commission has added two new members to its board to help bring further experience to the team for the benefit of the region.

One of the new members is Talison Lithium mine general projects manager Pat Scallan and the other is Rural, Regional, Remote Women’s Network of Western Australia chief executive officer Jackie Jarvis.

Commission chairman Nick Belyea said the new board members would be helpful additions to the team.

“I am very pleased that Jackie and Pat have joined the board and I feel sure they will make a valuable contribution,” Mr Belyea said.

Mr Scallan has been a member of the Bridgetown-Greenbushes Shire Council for more than 18 years.

He said he was keen to contribute more to the continued development of the region through his new role, particularly in areas such as community, infrastructure, tourism and industry.

“The area is destined for substantial growth over the next decade and we need to ensure we can facilitate and support this growth for all in the South West,” Mr Scallan said.

Ms Jarvis owns a vineyard in Margaret River and said she loved the kind of lifestyle the South West offered.

“I am looking forward to working with the SWDC to see how we can diversify our local economy through innovation, attracting new industries and creating new knowledge-based job roles,” Ms Jarvis said.

The pair have been official members of the board since they attended their first meeting in November last year.
