New gazebo for Greenbushes shed following Government grant

The Greenbushes Community Shed will soon be able to take its activities outdoors after receiving a $6000 grant to build a new gazebo. The money comes as part of the latest round of funding from the Federal Government’s National Shed Development Program. O’Connor MHR Rick Wilson recently visited the team at the shed to welcome the announcement. “During the COVID-19 pandemic, many Australians, including in Greenbushes, got down to their local community shed to stay connected with each other,” he said. “This funding will allow Greenbushes Community Shed to build a gazebo addition to its current facility that will allow activities such as sanding, which are best done outdoors, to be taken outside. “This $6000 grant comes on the back of a $3700 Federal Government grant in 2019 that assisted the organisation to kit out its shed.” Greenbushes Community Shed chair David Robertson said he was looking forward to freeing up some extra space in the shed. “We’re pleased to get it because the shed itself is quite small and this will give us the opportunity to build an undercover area on the south side of the shed to give us a bit more room,” he said. “It will serve a couple of purposes, getting stuff done outside which will free up a bit of space inside for people and it just gives us that bit more room.” Mr Robertson thanked Angie Cornish, who also played a big part in the development of the shed, for her work securing the grant. The Australian Government has provided $6.4 million in grant funding to men’s sheds since 2013.
