Balingup accommodation providers Deb and Brian Vanallen are riding high after taking out a gold award in the 2018 WA Tourism Awards.

Their business, Balingup Heights Hilltop Forest Cottages, took out the gold award for the second year in the row in the Self Contained Tourist Accommodation category.

The awards were announced at a gala dinner in Perth on November 10.

Mr and Mrs Vanallen said they were thrilled with the win, following their 2017 gold win and their 2016 silver win.

“We pride ourselves on our personalised customer service and have worked very hard to add those ‘one per centers’ to ensure our guests have a truly special experience,” Mrs Vanallen said.

“To be acknowledged by our peers is very rewarding.”

Mrs Vanallen said much of the business’ success had come from the development of partnerships with other small businesses in the region.

“We’re very proud of Balingup, and our continued growth depends not only on visitors enjoying their stay with us, but on them having fabulous experiences right throughout the region,” she said.

The gold medallists in each category will represent Western Australia at the Qantas Australian Tourism Awards in Launceston on March 1, 2019.
