Northcliffe dominate with bat and ball in win over Manjimup in WBCA
Northcliffe are back in the winners circle with a blistering 33-run win in the clash with Manjimup last Saturday.
As Northcliffe batted first scoring was difficult as the two opening bowlers, Dane Raper (0-28) and Jono Millar (1-29) had impressive opening spells.
As a few wickets fell it brought Dan Bayman to the crease and scored a well-deserved half century (53 not out).
Also helping steady the ship was Peter Smith (14).
During the middle overs it was all Keenan Wilson, taking 2-3 to help stop the runs piling on by the Northcliffe batters. The travelling side finished on 9-137 after 45 overs.
Manjimup got off to a solid start with the two openers, Jack Muir (16) and Cameron Harris (34).
But Northcliffe bowled tight line and length. Peter “Ashwin” Smith bowled superbly taking 6-13 and troubled the Manjimup batsmen from his first ball.
Then Rory Hanratty came to the middle trying to will the Manjimup team to victory with a classy 12 but was undone by Smith.
With country week taking place next week there will be a break for the Warren-Blackwood Cricket Association, returning on January 29.
