Manjimup Tigers maul Southerners in last round before finals

It was business as usual for the Manjimup Tigers as they swept Southerners aside in round 17 of the Lower South West Football League, demolishing them 19.20 (134) to 2.2 (14). From the initial ruck, Tigers were totally dominant in the midfield and left their Southerners opponents chasing shadows as they continually pumped the ball into their forward 50. By the end of the first quarter, it would have taken a minor miracle for the Southerners to get back into the game as they trailed 0.1 (1) to 5.3 (33). The onslaught continued in the second quarter as the team from Manjimup battered their opponents all over the park. In a change of pace from the rest of the game, the first team to score in the third quarter was the Southerners, who kicked a goal after coming out from the break with a fire in their stomach. The Tigers could have pushed the lead into ridiculous figures but were unable to shoot straight in the third term, kicking 3.10. Going into the fourth quarter, the margin between the two outfits sat at 88 points as Southerners trailed 2.1 (13) to 14.17 (101). The misery of Southerners was compounded as the Manjimup Tigers kicked a further five goals while Southerners managed a solitary point. As the siren blew for full time, a miserable 2021 season came to an end for the winless Southerners. Tigers now advance to the first round of finals where they will play Deanmill at the Hawks’ home ground on Sunday.
