Nannup police have reassured business owners they are keeping an eye on things, even if they are closed due to COVID 19.

Officer-in-charge Sgt. Al McNevin said the initiative was proactive rather than reactive.

“We know that the pressure placed on business owners has become immense,” he said.

“We as an agency want to ensure people in that position who have had to either reduce their business or even close, that our level of support is still there.

“If your business is closed, being that you won’t be there as often as you were, our idea and our agencies’ response is that we are going to support that by ensuring we conduct more patrols than we probably would do.”

Sgt. McNevin, pictured, said the community should turn to the police with their COVID-19 concerns rather than relying on social media.

“If there is something that concerns the community, let us know,” he said.
