Volunteers from the Catterick, Winnejup, Maranup, Kangaroo Gully and Greenbushes fire brigades came together to put out a bushfire in Catterick that started on Sunday.

The units received the triple 0 call at 1.40pm on Sunday afternoon, after a permit burn escaped.

Catterick’s bushfire control officer Santo Pratico thanked all of the brigades involved in fighting the fire.

“Their fast response stopped the fire from becoming a big issue,” he said.

The reason for the fire escaping is still under investigation.
