The Blackwood River Park was filled with excited power dinghy duos prepared to speed down the Blackwood River on Saturday when the 47th iteration of the beloved Blackwood Classic 250 race took place over the weekend. Saturday had racers speeding off from Bridgetown through rapids, submerged rocks and logs along the way on the Blackwood River and passing through Revelry Bridge before stopping for the day in Nannup. On Sunday, racers left Nannup to head to their next checkpoint at Sue’s Bridge, where teams had to pass through different hazards and took advantage of long pools, which allowed frontrunners to extend their lead and for those behind to catch up and make good time before finishing for the day. The final day had racers passing through rapids as they left Sue’s Bridge and headed for Schroeders Weir, having to push through Hardy Inlet near Molloy Island before reaching the end in Augusta. Todd Williamson and Mitch Lagore took the win for the Sports category, with Kris Parnell and Ronny Wilson coming in second. Shane and Tim Tregurtha won the Super Standard category, with Alex Foster and Henry Irwin coming in second while Brad Kitcher and Raymond Taylor came in third place. In the Standard category, Matt Brown and Jack Pennys were the fastest, while Jack Jogner and Harley Waterstrom were the second fastest and the duo of Glen Dusenberg and Chris Goddard took out third place.
