Region’s shoppers ‘prop up’ businesses
The community’s dedication to shopping locally has bolstered business confidence after COVID-19 caused a downturn in economic activity.
Manjimup Chamber of Commerce and Industry president Victoria Howe said the past few months highlighted the importance of shopping locally for Manjimup residents and tourists.
“Locals prop up the local businesses and tourists bring that seasonal boost,” she said.
Southern Roasting Co manager Ruiglent Tuci said although it had been a challenging year for businesses, things were looking up.
Mr Tuci said he was impressed with the way Southern Roasting Co owners handled the business during the pandemic and was grateful for locals’ support. “The community in Manjimup is amazing, they support each other,” he said.
In its Regional Pulse report last week, the WA Chamber of Commerce and Industry highlighted regional businesses and said the regions were the “engine room” of the WA economy.
