Manjimup police station has welcomed a new member to the team who has come from Dunsborough.

Sen. Const. Jamie Dlugi said he chose to come to Manjimup for a tree change.

“We wanted to set up somewhere our kids can grow up,” he said.

“Ideally, if it’s somewhere we like, we’ll look at putting down roots.”

Sen. Const. Dlugi has been a police officer for nine years and has always worked in regional areas, with his other placements being South Hedland and Katanning.

“I like being able to get to know the community,” he said.

Sen. Const. Dlugi said he liked being in regional areas because he was able to cover all aspects of policing. “I like helping out where I can,” he said.

“The team are all really nice, we have similar interests and work well together.”

He started working at Manjimup on February 25 and his first week included patrolling the Nannup Music Festival.
