RSL gift has Deb travelling in comfort
Manjimup RSL has donated a mobility scooter to a resident in need, replacing her older scooter with a newer, more reliable model.
Since losing sight in her left eye after suffering a stroke, Deb Coverley has relied upon a mobility scooter to travel around town.
The Manjimup RSL was given the scooter by member Peter Battilana and RSL president Rex Brown said the group was pleased to donate it to Mrs Coverley.
Mr Brown said Mr Battilana specified the scooter to go to someone in need.
“Deb was driving down the street in this old scooter and I thought it couldn’t go to a better person, she helps the community and she’s been a battler all her life,” he said.
Mrs Coverley said she was humbled to be considered worthy of such generosity.
“It’s so much more reliable, comfortable, I was only just coping with that old one and this is luxury compared to the other machine,” Mrs Coverley said.
“I’d like to acknowledge the work that the RSL do around Manjimup, so much of it doesn’t get seen or noticed.”
