Students from all year groups at East Manjimup Primary School dressed as characters from books and movies on Thursday in celebration of Book Week.

There were many children who dressed as Where’s Wally, Marvel and DC comic characters and witches and wizards.

There was also some more unusual characters such as Marge Simpson, Captain Underpants, DJ Marshmello and a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle.

The event was celebrated a week later than most other schools and deputy principal Bianca Prosser said the event was a highlight of the school week.

“Most of the students and staff dress up and their favourite character and we have decorated the library to match this year’s Book Week theme, reading is my super power,” she said.

“All the children got a super hero name allocated on Monday as an extra little activity which tied into this theme and they had to figure out how everyone got their name.”

She said their super hero names were given based off the initials of their first and last names. “I was Professor Fang, most of the teachers were professors and then we had names like Aqua Shield and Silver Falcon,” Mrs Prosser said.

“Everyone here really gets into it and has a lot of fun too.”
