Slam Drunks topple Aces in ninth week of the Manjimup Basketball Competition

The Aces and the Slam Drunks went head-to-head last Wednesday at the Manjimup Recreation Centre in round nine of the Manjimup Basketball Competition, with Slam Drunks winning 29-24 Both teams started the game fired up and ready to score, with the Aces and Slam Drunks giving each other a hard time with their defensive and offensive strategies. The Aces led most of the first half of the game with Tammy Crosby, Taizley Krispyn, Casey Cole and Katie Crosby scoring points and playing aggressively in their offensive ends. However, the Slam Drunks were able to catch up, thanks to goals by Jessilee East, Calie Debetec, Neve Lazarn and Abbey Holdsworth. By the end of the first half, both teams were level with a score of 13-13. The Slam Drunks started the second half strong, taking the lead with scores by Marley Davies, Calie Debetec, Abbey Holdsworth and Jessilee East. However, the Aces attempted to close the margin and overtake the Slam Drunks with Taizley Krispyn, Casey Cole and Anita Johnson scoring goals. In the men’s senior competition, the Barracudas defeated the Hawks A 42-36, the Raiders won over the Yabbies 52-38, Hawks beat Warriors 28-16, the Redbacks had a 12 point win against the Giants 37-25, the Wolfpack beat the Tropics 41-37 and the Purple Cobras toppled the Dingoes 54-47. In the women’s A-grade senior competition, Senators Yellow defeated the Mystics 37-33 and the Pink Ladies toppled Comets Red 51-36. In the women’s B-grade senior competition, Comets U19 defeated Aus Stars 37-19, the Saints beat Magpies Blue 28-21, the Diamonds won against the Bush Chooks 25-21 and Magpies Orange toppled Senators Blue 25-14.
