South West music festival Jazz in the Jarrah gets reboot after being delayed by lockdown

Manjimup Lions Club has confirmed Jazz in the Jarrah is being “rebooted” after being postponed due to bad weather and the snap five-day lockdown last month. South West music lovers will finally be able to enjoy the Royal Australian Navy Band and the Manhatton Hot Swing live at the Manjimup Heritage Park on March 20. Manjimup Lions’ Geoff Mabey said making the choice to postpone the event, which was scheduled for the Saturday after the lockdown ended, was stressful. “It was terribly disappointing for us and it was a really difficult decision,” he said. “Right when the snap lockdown happened we were taking a risk and decided to keep going with the event because we were of the understanding the Premier would have something to say about it on the Friday. Mr Mabey said people should plan to arrive early and bring deck chairs to set up on the grass. “Please bring a picnic tea or you can also get food from Park Cafe,” he said. “Come sign in, get set up nice and early so you don’t have to rush. “It’s also a variety of music, not just jazz, so it should appeal to everybody. “I’m not a religious person but we are praying for no more COVID lockdowns and some decent weather.” The Royal Australian Navy Band will play at 5.30pm, followed by Manhatton Hot Swing at 7.30pm. Last year’s Jazz in the Jarrah raised more than $2700 for the Royal Flying Doctor Service and bushfire aid.
