St John look for more volunteers

The volunteer ambulance service in Pemberton is hosting a training night to try to build up its cohort and maintain ambulance coverage. The St John Ambulance branch in Pemberton is hosting the training night on July 19 as it looks to recruit between six and eight new members for the Lower South West branch. Volunteer numbers stand at 27 members, but Pemberton chair Leon Gardiner said the branch could always use the extra help to allow more availability and to not burn out staff. “By aiming for the six to eight volunteers what we are hoping that will do is give us a good spread of availability in the community and help us make sure we can maintain the level of ambulance coverage required,” he said.
