Manjimup Primary School has taken part in this year’s Readathon program to raise money for MS Australia.

The Year 2 and 3 classes decided to take part this year after Year 3 student Leo Nidd spoke to his teacher Nicky Thurbon.

“Leo’s mum has MS and so when he brought the idea to us we were very keen to get the program up and running for any student who wanted to take part,” Ms Thurbon said.

“Each student has their own page on the Readathon website, where they keep track of how many books they have read and the amount they have raised.”

She said the class had set an initial goal of $500, but the goal had been met so quickly they had raised it to $1000

“We are almost at this goal as well, so I may have to adjust it again,” Ms Thurbon said.

“Collectively the class has read 37 books and the number keeps going up pretty much every day.”

The MS Readathon runs through August with studentscontinuing to read more books and raise money until August 30.
