St Brigid’s Catholic Primary School Year 6 student James Rutten lost his locks last Tuesday in support of the Kids Cancer Project.

James has raised $2000 this year, with assistance from Tasty Edibles in Greenbushes which has donated $2 from the sale of every Porky Pig to his fundraiser.

James has been a regular fundraiser for the cause. He completed a 53km walk on the Bibbulmun Track last year and raised more than $8000.

Superkids Superheroes founder Simon Kane praised James’ fundraising efforts, calling him a little superhero himself.

“He’s just a little champion, because he was best friends with my son Declan and Declan would be so proud of him,” he said.

“I think its unbelievable, there is nothing better than seeing kids helping kids.”

Mr Kane started Superkids Superheroes in 2016, a year before his son Declan died after a four-year battle with neuroblastoma.

“He fought it for four years and passed away in 2017 and we started Superkids Superheroes in 2016, just trying to find better treatment options for children with severe cancers, like neuroblastomas, brain tumours and high-risk leukaemia,” Mr Kane said.

James is continuing to fund-raise until the end of December, and donations can be made at bit.ly/2ZEmQmp.
