SW juniors have fun, fitness on the track
Junior athletes are gearing up to try their hand at a variety of sports as part of Little Athletics.
Lower South West Little Athletics encompasses long jump, javelin, sprints and hurdles.
President and coach Joh Perry said Little Athletics catered for all skill levels and abilities.
“We don’t make it a competition, rather it’s about participation and celebrating personal bests,” she said.
“We encourage participants to have fun and work on improving their personal bests.”
Participants also have the chance to compete against other districts throughout the season.
Mrs Perry said those looking to join could register online or visit a training session at the Imperials Football Club which started today at 4 pm.
“We have people from all over the district register, including Bridgetown, Greenbushes and Pemberton,” she said.
Mrs Perry also said there would be a coaching course held next month for anyone interested in becoming an accredited Little Athletics coach.
Competitions for Little Athletics will begin on October 13, from 5pm. T
his year also marks the 50th anniversary of Little Athletics in WA.
