Tall Timbers represents Southern Forests in Buy West Eat Best’s Plating Up WA campaign this year

Tall Timbers in Manjimup will be one of many restaurants that will be plating up for Buy West Eat Best’s award-winning Plating Up WA campaign to encourage WA diners to support local food service and hospitality next month. Tall Timbers is the only restaurant in the Southern Forests region and one of four restaurants in the South West region to be participating in this year’s campaign, which has more than 40 venues, including fine dining, rustic and casual restaurants and cafes, serve dishes including the best ingredients in WA. A featured item from the restaurant during the campaign includes a burger with eight grams of shaved Manjimup black truffle, aged cheddar, beetroot mayonnaise and rustic fries. Manjimup truffles is one of the many WA fresh produce items that will be on display during the campaign, along with rock lobster, red emperor, sardines, artisan cheese, wagyu beef, and fruit and vegetables The campaign, run by the Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development’s Buy West Eat Best program, will have venues from the Mid West, South West, Southern Forests, Swan Valley, Goldfields-Esperance, and Perth areas hosting, and targets supporting food, beverage, food service and hospitality industries during the quieter winter trading period. Tall Timbers managing director Ed Fallows said being a part of the campaign had been good for the restaurant and it would allow people to enjoy and understand the qualities of Manjimup truffles. “We always run a truffle menu and a truffle dinner alongside the Truffle Kerfuffle,” he said. “I think people should understand what truffle is and what people have to learn about truffle is it’s not a hero, it’s an enhancer with a mild taste and it gives the dish that extra kick.” Food Industry Development manager Deborah Pett said the campaign has helped boost the local economy and support jobs in the industry by supporting the local restaurants that participate and plate up. “This is now the fifth year we have delivered Plating Up WA to the community, which is a testament to the program’s success and its popularity amongst chefs and patrons alike,” she said. “We know that winter can be a tough time for foodservice and hospitality businesses, so once again we implore everyone to get out and try one of the amazing dishes on offer.”
