A group of Pemberton women are organising a high tea in town later this month to raise money to help cancer awareness.

Organisers are hoping to share the message that, together, a community can provide a helping hand to create a world without the deadly disease.

Hoping to build on last year’s success, the organising committee has already held a charity walk around Big Brook Dam and sold firewood to hopefully raise more funds in 2019.

“We have all suffered, with people that we know who have had cancer in recent times, and it has affected our community,” co-organiser Mary Morris said.

“Therefore we wanted to raise money to hopefully make a cancer-free society.”

Last year was the inaugural high tea and organisers said they hoped to stage the event for more years to come as they love organising it for the community and bringing everyone together to raise money for a worthy cause.

The high tea will have plenty of activities, including a pre-loved fashion parade, raffle and entertainment performed by the committee.

The community has also donated clothing for a sale at the event to raise more funds for cancer awareness.

The high tea will take place at 9.30am on November 28 at the Pemberton Mill Hall.

There are limited tickets available.
