There was a load of high-velocity action in round eight of the Manjimup Amateur Basketball Association’s 2021-22 season. Starting in the women’s A-grade, the reigning champions Pink Ladies found their match in the Comets as the two sides battled it out but eventually drew with a final score of 48-48. Meanwhile, the Aces claimed another win for themselves, this time comprehensively defeating the Vipers 59-26. The men’s competition was also hard to call this round with some close final scores right across the board. The Wolfpack were able to dispose of the Dingos with a 50-42 victory, the Imperials just got on top of the Yabbies 50-47 and the Cobras took home a 55-47 win against the Raiders. The Giants were able to beat the Warriors 44-31, the Hawks A side got the bragging rights over Hawks B with a 49-34 win, while the Barracudas had the highest score of the round with a 74-43 victory against the Spoonbills. Meanwhile in the women’s AR/B competition, the Slam Dunks and Saints, pictured, battled it out with the Slam Dunks finishing ahead 28-19. The Mystics were able to dominate Aus Stars Green with a 57-21 win, while Aus Stars Purple defeated Magpies Blue 44-21 and Magpies Orange snagged a 32-27 win from the Panthers. The Diamonds were also able to claim a 34-19 victory over Senators Blue/Green, while Senators Marron/Yellow were able to take down the Bush Chooks 36-14. There are now only two rounds left before teams stop play over the Christmas break, returning to courts at the end of January.
