Top Truffle Kerfuffle chef set to miss festival due to border restrictions

One of the South West’s most popular culinary events is in a Kerfuffle of its own after the State’s hard border with New South Wales barred the top chef from its line-up from travelling over. French chef Guillaume Brahimi, who owns Bistro Guillaume Sydney, was meant to feature in a number of Manjimup’s Truffle Kerfuffle events this weekend, including the Friday Night Dinner and Chef’s Cabins, but has had to cancel his trip after travel restrictions were updated yesterday to ban any non-exempt travellers from the Eastern State. Chef De Cuisine’s Robert Murphy will instead take over the two sessions. The Truffle Kerfuffle is an annual weekend-long food and wine festival held in Manjimup, which is the largest producer of truffle in the Southern Hemisphere. A spokesperson for the event said the slight change in plan would not affect the quality of the meals or the experience of the guests. They said Mr Murphy has 15 years experience working at Bistro Guillaume Perth, also owned by the French-born chef, and will deliver top quality dishes. Chef Brahimi is expected to interact with guests over video link at the event.
