Walpole airstrip upgrades funding approved
The airstrip in Walpole has received $75,000 towards upgrades.
The money is part of the Federal Government’s Remote Airstrip Upgrade Program.
The Department of Parks and Wildlife applied for the funding for upgrades including excavating and reforming 300m of runway with clean gravel, water bound and compacted.
Upgrades will also include forming hard stand areas at either end of the runway and the water bomber reload area improved runway drainage.
Ravensthorpe and Tjuntjuntjara were the other recipients for airstrip upgrades, with a total of $418,000 being allocated.
