Forestry have maintained their lead at the top of the Warren Blackwood Cricket Association with a seven-wicket win over Manjimup at Collier Street Reserve. Manjimup won the toss and chose to bat but were quickly in a hole at 2-4, with openers Jarrod Jones and Caylen Lagana knocked over by Kayne Aitken and Brock Tempara. Oscar Murphy (19 from 75 balls) and Jack Muir (18 from 75 balls) battled hard but lacked support as Manjimup’s innings ended on 78 from 35.4 overs. Josiah Smith was the pick of the Forestry bowlers with 4-11 from his eight overs, receiving good support from Tempara (2-16 from nine overs) and Braden Gibellini (2-17 from eight overs). Forestry took care of the chase with a minimum of fuss, running down the target inside 11 overs. The typically aggressive Kayne Aitken got the chase away to a quick start, smacking three fours from his first eight balls before being dismissed for 26 from 16 balls. Kallum East (18 from 31 balls) was dismissed quickly after Aitken but there was to be no miracle, with Samuel Vellios (nine not out from eight balls) and Blake Johnston (7n.o. from four balls) getting the job done for Forestry.
