Westpac donation helps CWA with refuge project
Manjimup CWA members will make use of a donation from the Manjimup Westpac branch to help women in need.
In a special afternoon tea at the CWA on Friday, members welcomed Westpac bank manager Rob Blechynden, who donated money towards an 18-year-old project.
The CWA has provided essential toiletries for the Local Women’s Refuge since it was started in 2002.
The packs include razors, soap, toothbrushes and other essential personal hygiene items.
“When women need to get out of a bad situation, fast, they don’t always have time to take essentials, which is why we like to supply them for the refuge,” CWA member Maureen Barton said.
CWA Manjimup has provided about 40 hygiene packs each year.
“Our finances took a hit this year because of coronavirus, so this donation from Westpac is incredibly welcome,” Mrs Barton said.
“Your donation will be put to very good use.”
Mr Blechynden said it was pleasing to be able help with some funding at a grassroots level.
“When we heard about this project, we wanted to help out,” he said.
