Prisoner remains on the run after escaping police custody in NT

Mongols associate and fugitive Isaac Thompson remains on the run after escaping police custody in the Northern Territory.

Thompson was in custody and was being transferred from an ambulance to the Royal Darwin Hospital emergency department when he escaped about 8.15pm.

Police said the 26-year-old was a known associate of the Mongols Outlaw Motorcycle Gang.

He is described as a caucasian man with dark hair and a neck tattoo.

He was captured on CCTV footage in Lyons about 11.30pm, where he was last seen.

It is believed Thompson was being helped in order to avoid being recaptured.

Detective Sergeant Jon Spencer said that “anyone assisting Thompson is committing an offence and will be identified and prosecuted as part of this investigation”.

He confirmed that “significant police resources” were being used to locate Thompson.

Anyone with information is urged to contact police.
