Introducing WA’s own potato chip by the Spud King

The long-awaited moment has arrived as Tony Galati — the Spud King of Western Australia — proudly presents his exclusive line of locally grown and crafted potato chips. The chips are made from potatoes grown on Galati farms in Myalup, Lancelin and Manjimup and will be avaliable at Galati’s Spudshed stores. “We grow some of the best potatoes in Australia and yet we haven’t had any chips made in WA for nearly a decade,” he said. “As West Aussies we deserve our own locally made, quality chips. I’ve been working with potatoes most of my life, so making a potato chip here in WA was the obvious next step in making the most of my favourite veg.” Available in 300gm packets, the chips come in four flavours: original, barbeque, chicken, and salt and vinegar. Spuddies, the first and only potato chips made in WA, the Times understands, mark a natural evolution for the Galati Group and the renowned “king’” of the humble vegetable. Galati Group is one of WA’s largest agriculture producers and retailers known for 17 Spudshed stores and potato crops. Mr Galati and his team are proud of the new venture and hope West Aussies will support their endeavour. “We have the best spuds, and now we have the best chips,” he said.
