Dust off your cowboy boots and get ready for a weekend of rodeo, music and camping as one of the most popular events on the rural calendar arrives in the Lower South West next week. All roads lead to Boyup Brook as Double Barrel Entertainment hosts the annual two-day CD Dodd Harvey Dickson Shindig and Rodeo, which is set to attract thousands of people from across WA. The Shindig on Friday night will kick off the weekend, where crowds can enjoy the sounds of Monty Cotton, A Boy Named Cash and Bradley Hall Band in a family-friendly environment from 6pm. The main action will happen in the area on Saturday, with cowboys and girls set to participate in a range of activities including bull rides, steer wrestling, barrel racing and team roping. Event co-organiser Ms Jo Kestel said rodeo was a great opportunity to get the whole family together and do something out in the open, away from screens and social media. “It’s a chance to see cowboys and cowgirls doing what they love and for people to see just how much they love their animals and stock.” The Harvey Dickson Rodeo is held on the grounds of the Harvey Dickson Country Music Centre, 5km from Boyup Brook on Arthur Road. Visit the Double Barrel Entertainment website for tickets or contact Peta on 0430 929 920. Children under 12 enter free. Camping passes are also available.
