Live acoustic music: Foot-tapping jazz and blues on display this weekend

A fabulous night of foot-tapping ragtime jazz and soothing blues music is coming to Manjimup this weekend featuring two talented South West bands.
Hosted by the Warren Arts Council, the event at Tall Timbers Brewery on Saturday will feature the Wayward Earls and Albany old-time string band, the Whistling Kites.
The Wayward Earls — also named as part of the prestigeous 2023 Nannup Music Festival line-up — perform music from the pre-Jazz era of 1920’s and 30’s America, featuring guitarist Rod Vervest, mandolinist and cellist Peter Grayling, and harmonicist Bob Lipinski.
Audiences can expect to enjoy authentic and gramophonic sounds from the well-known West Australian band that gets smiles widening and toes tapping.
The Whistling Kites are a three piece old-time string band, featuring Ella Vervest on the fiddle, Finn Jekabsons on the banjo and Alyssa Nixon-Lloyd on the guitar.
Their music features driving rhythms and grooves of the fiddle and banjo that have a distinctly old-time music genre feel.
The doors and bar will open 4pm for a 4:30pm start.
Tickets can be purchased for $40 online and from Vetted Books on 120 Giblett Street. Early Bird tickets will be available for $30 until January 3.
