LSWFL: Imperials dominate round four against Boyup Brook
The Imperials cemented their position in the top two after defeating Boyup Brook by 48 points last Saturday in round four of the Lower South West Football League season.
The Imperials started out the dominant side with some fantastic midfield effort evident, allowing their forwards to put four goals on the board and five behinds within the first 15 minutes to the Roos’ 1.1.
Boyup Brook responded late in the quarter, with Mathew Michael immediately replying to an Imperials goal, before Sam Garstone scored another from 45m out shortly after.
But despite the Roos’ best efforts, the home side’s Harry Curtin was able to kick a goal to solidify his team’s lead 5.5 (35) to 3.1 (19).
Three successive goals from the home side in the second quarter had Boyup Brook scrambling to strengthen their defences.
An Imperials injury late into the quarter allowed the Roos to reset and score, however the Imperials remained dominant when the siren sounded for half-time.
The Imperials managed to stretch their lead from 16 points to 39 during the second quarter, 11.6 (72) to 5.3 (33).
The away side won the third quarter, scoring 4.1 (25) to the Imperials’ 3.5 (23), however it was clear the Imperials were out to dominate in the final term, scoring 4.1 (25) to 2.2 (14) to take the final margin to 18.12 (120) to 11.6 (72).
