Independents defeated Cosmos by a mere three goals during round six of the Manjimup Netball Association season on Monday. In a heavily contested match that had spectators on the edge of their seats, both teams presented tight defensive skills and strong attacking ability, with the score even at the end of the first quarter (9-9). With nothing separating the two teams, the second quarter played out similar to the first with Cosmos squeezing in a final goal before the half-time whistle to put the team in the lead by a goal. An incredible midcourt effort from Cosmos’ lead by Shannon Scaini in WA, extended the teams lead by three goals going into the final quarter (29-26). The fourth quarter continued to thrill spectators, with Independents clawing their way back to the lead three minutes in after some incredible shooting by Paige and Zoe Wilson. However, Cosmos weren’t to be denied and continued to put pressure on Independents, keeping themselves right in the game. With only two minutes to spare, Independents put on a last ditch effort to secure their win and managed a three goal margin by the end of game (42-39). Also in Pool 2, Globetrotters defeated Tigers (42-30), continuing their win-streak after their first win in round five. In Pool 1, Magpies defeated Vixens (50-30), while Magic defeated SWE (43-36).
