MNA: Magpies remain undefeated after taking on the Vixens in round three

The Magpies remain undefeated after beating the Vixens on Monday in round three of the Manjimup Netball Association Pool 1 season. Magpies started hard and fast, putting a five-point margin between the teams within the opening three minutes. Vixens managed a goal to break the Magpies’ momentum and it was almost goal-for-goal throughout the rest of the first quarter, with Magpies up 16-10 by the whistle. They managed to stretch their six-goal lead out to eight during the second term (28-20) despite some incredible long-range shooting from Vixens’ Kristie Ward and Sophie McGann. The Vixens won the third quarter, allowing the Magpies only eight goals to their nine and keeping themselves in the game with their strength in defence. Keeping the momentum going in the final quarter, the Vixens managed to reduce the margin to a mere two goals before Magpies gained a last burst of energy and determination, finishing the game 44-40. In the other Pool 1 game, SWE won off a Magic forfeit, while in Pool 2 Cosmos defeated Independents 53-31 and Tigers defeated Globetrotters 41-29.
