Plating up WA: New campaign to promote hospitality in South West after COVID downturn

A new State Government plan to support WA’s food, beverage, food service and hospitality industries in the wake of the pandemic is set to make its way to the Lower South West. Plating up WA is part of the Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development’s Buy West Eat Best campaign, and aims to promote the State’s “destination dining” following a pandemic-caused downturn in tourism. Encouraging chefs to promote their use of local ingredients and “ignite” conversations between staff and consumers are all part of the campaign’s agenda, according to manager food industry development Deborah Pett. “It is so important to acknowledge the significant contribution that the local food, beverage and food service and hospitality industries make to the State’s economy,” she said. “All suppliers and venues need the support of their customer base now more than ever.” The Plating up WA campaign will highlight the use of local produce in venues across the Lower South West such as Tall Timbers, Ampersand Estates and Jaspers Pemberton.
