From community planting days to clean-up busy bees, the Preston River in Donnybrook is receiving a major facelift after generous community support. With the help of volunteers, the Leschenault Catchment Council has planted more than 3000 seedlings along the river over the last two years which has helped the area bloom. A recently secured State Government funding will continue to support the revitalisation of the area over the coming years with continued plans to re-vegetate and weed the area along the Preston River Loop Walk later this month. To kick off their plans, LCC set up a stall at Donnybrook Community Club Expo on Saturday to outline where the community can be help in the next steps of the Preston River’s revitalisation which drew in the local children with its nature-based craft activities. Volunteering events will start on May 27 with an area clean-up and a planting day on June 18. More information can be found on the LCC website.
