Warren districts women’s sides put on fantastic performances during country week at the weekend

The women of Warren districts put on incredible performances at the Group Women’s State Country Champs in Perth at the weekend, with Warren 2 walking away with a second-place victory. Both Warren teams presented a strong front in their divisions, however, it was Warren 2 in division 5 that made it through to the final, while Warren in division 4 placed seventh overall. Warren 2 started strong on Friday, winning the first match against East Avon 2-0 before suffering a loss in their second match against Donnybrook 3-0. Warren 2 had an incredible day on Saturday, defeating Eastern Districts 1-0, then Ongerup 2-0. Warren 2 placed second overall, securing them a place in the final. Despite some incredible performances by the dominate side, Warren 2 lost the final against Donnybrook, with the final score 2-0. Division 5 coach Mel Waters said Warren 2 was a side ranging from juniors up to veterans of the game “who came together to form a perfect storm of youth and experience”. “Lead by Natasha Omodei they fought hard until the last whistle on the grand final,” she said. In division 4 on Friday, Warren lost to Busselton 0-1, but defeated Lower Great Southern 1-0. On Saturday, Warren drew Mortlock 1-1 and lost to Central Midlands 0-1, placing fourth out of five in pool B. In the overall division 4 playoff, Warren took on Roe Districts.
