Residents are being told to start making preparations to flee or fight a fire tearing through bushland in the Shire of Bridgetown-Greenbushes as of Thursday February 9 at 2:35pm. Residents bounded by East Blackwood Terrace, Mattamattup Street, Kangaroo Gully Road, Elwins Road and Blackwood River in parts of Kangaroo Gully, Bridgetown, Glenlynn and Sunnyside, are under emergency warning. The Department of Fire and Emergency Services are warning there is a possible threat to lives and homes as a fire is approaching in the area and conditions are changing. DFES are advising those effect if you are not prepared or you plan to leave, leave now if the way is clear, otherwise make final preparations to actively defend your home now. The bushfire is moving in a north westerly direction, uncontrolled and not contained. Firefighters are on the scene, actively fighting the fire, and aerial support has been sent to assist ground crews. Roads have not been closed as yet. The fire was reported at 1:34pm on February 9.
