Forestry have secured themselves a place in the Warren Blackwood Cricket Association’s first T20 grand final next week at Collier Street Sporting Complex.

In the final round of the day on Saturday, Forestry defeated Manjimup and finished top of the T20 ladder.

Forestry batted first with Duncan Wells getting the winning side off to a flying start, going on to smash an unbeaten 74 from 54 balls, including four fours and four sixes.

Wells was well accompanied by Kallan Fall (33) who made a run a ball.

Jared Johnston was good for his 15, but the fall of his wicket brought catastrophe for Forestry.

After smooth sailing for 15 overs for Forestry, Manjimup definitely won the back end of the innings with Cameron Harris playing terrifically and taking his first hat-trick, finishing with 3-4 from two overs.

Leigh Ward and Jack Muir also played well taking a wicket each.

Despite their ups and downs, Forestry set a solid target of 142 for victory.

Manjimup’s Ben Lagana went about the chase magnificently, smashing 55 from 31 balls to really get the ball rolling.

Unfortunately Lagana was a bit of a lone hand, leaving Manjimup’s chase towards the last half of the innings less than promising.

Jozef Parkinson (25) and Harris (19) kept Manjimup right in the game until the final overs, however Forestry’s bowlers were too good, holding Manjimup to 8-119 after their allocated 20 overs and claiming victory by 23 runs.

Forestry’s Dave Jeffery took 3-20 along with Jared Johnston’s 2-16, while Mat Johnston and Kayne Aitken each took one.

Next Saturday will see Forestry take on Boyup Brook at 1pm for their chance to be named the WBCA’s first T20 grand final shield champions.

Manjimup will also take on Northcliffe to determine the final podium finish while Pemberton go up against Bridgetown.
