There were close games of hockey B-grade over the weekend with Robins defeating Cougars, while the Violet Femmes and Nationals finished with a draw. It was a week of fierce competition between the four sides on Saturday during round three of the Warren Women’s Hockey Association season, making for a fantastic atmosphere for the eager spectators under crisp winter conditions. On one field at Rea Park, Robins continued their fantastic season with a hard-fought win against Cougars, 3-2. Cougars gave Robins a run for their money however, could not find the goals to even the score before the final whistle sounded. Robins’ goal scorers included Madeli Steyn, Ashlee Chapman and Cassidy Waters, while Katie Crosby and Joanne Ramiro scored for Cougars. Match MVPs were Robins’ Chapman and Waters, while Crosby was best for the Cougars. Also in B-grade, Violet Femmes drew Nationals 1-1, with goals scored by Amelia Henderson-Mott and Rebecca Peos. Match MVPs were Nationals’ Sydney Gibellini and Rebecca Drake and Violet Femmes’ Jodie Schilders. In A-grade, Violent Femmes defeated Nationals 5-2, while Robins defeated Cougars 2-1. Goal scorers included Violent Femmes’ Jenae Cawley, Lizzie Hurrell, Jodie Schilders, Amelie Windberg and Mel Waters, Nationals’ Tash Omodei and Rebecca Peos, Robins’ Bianca and Madeli Steyn and Cougars’ Hayley Ryan. Match MVPs were Violent Femmes’ Charli Windberg and Waters, Nationals’ Nadia Stoiche, Cougars’ Charlotte Cumming and Emily Millar, and Robins’ Hannah Gibson.
