WWHA: Cougars pull out all the stops to defeat Nationals at the weekend

In women’s hockey, Cougars played a dominant match on Saturday in A-grade, downing Nationals 4-1 in week 13 of the Warren association season. Cougars started out fiercely, making it clear they had come to win. Hayley Ryan (2), Jamie Spooner and Emily Millar scored Cougars’ goals, to Hannah Gibson’s one, easily guiding their team to victory. Millar and Ryan were named Cougars’ most valued players, while Gibson was Nationals’ best. Also in A-grade, Violet Femmes defeated Robins 2-0 in a thriller, with Millie Charlton and Elcin Cook scoring. MVPs were Jenae Cawley from Violet Femmes, and Hannah Gibson and Kirsty Grainger from Robins. In B-grade, Cougars defeated Nationals 4-0, while Robins forfeited to Violet Femmes. MVPs were Jeanette Harris and Olivia Waugh from Cougars, and Milly Eames from Nationals. Katie Crosby, Jo Ramiro, Charlotte Cummin and Waugh were the goal scorers at the weekend.
