WWHA: Newly formed A Grade Robins win first game of the season against Nationals

The Robins defeated the Nationals in week two of the Warren Women’s Hockey Association Grade A season last Saturday after four quarters of intense and exciting play. Both teams started hard and fast, however it was the newly formed Robins that dominated all four quarters, finishing three goals ahead of the Nationals in their 4-1 win. Robins’ Sharon DeCampo and Monique Wishart dominated the field, with both scoring two goals each, while Tracy Gibellini did well for her side. DeCampo, Wishart and Gibellini were all declared game MVPs. The Nationals’ Natasha Omodei also played well, scoring the only goal for her side despite several well-placed attempts on goal by her teammates throughout the game. In the other A Grade game, Violet Femmes defeated Cougars 3-1, with Nicki Campbell, Jenae Cawley and Elcin Cook scoring for the winning team and Sharon DeCampo for the Cougars. MVPs were Jenae Cawley and Abbie Walton of the Violet Femmes, and Charlotte Cumming of the Cougars. In the B Grade games, Robins defeated Nationals 5-2, while Cougars defeated Violet Femmes 1-0. Goal scorers included Madeli Steyn (4) and Livinia Gardiner of Robins, Alyssa Buckley (2) of Nationals, and Ashleigh Terrigno of Cougars. MVPs were Geri Moore and Laurel Atwell of Robins, Sydney Gibellini of Nationals, Katie Crosby and Ashleigh Terrigno of Cougars, and Jodie Schilders of Violet Femmes.
