Violet Femmes have been crowned A Grade grand final victors at the weekend after defeating Robins in an intense game of women’s hockey. The Warren Women’s Hockey Association hosted their A Grade and B Grade grand finals on September 2, with Cougars downing Violet Femmes in the B Grade decider. In A Grade, both teams demonstrated incredible hockey talent and serious determination. Mel Waters scored Violet Femmes’ goal, which proved to be the winner, just before half-time. Robins did their best to hit back with several strong attempts at goal, however they were unable to break the Violet Femmes’ defence. The final score was 1-0. Robins’ Sharon DeCampo was voted most valuable player alongside Violet Femmes’ Jenae Cawley and goal scorer Waters. In B Grade, Cougars put on an impressive performance defeating Violet Femmes 2-0. Joanne Ramiro and Katie Crosby scored for Cougars. Game MVPs were Cougars’ Charlotte Cumming and Crosby, and Violet Femme’s Jodie Schilders.
