Violet Femmes have secured another win in the Warren Womens Hockey Association at the weekend, defeating Cougars 1-0. Both teams battled with the rain to start, taking some time to get comfortable with the extreme conditions. However, it was clear from the outset that Violet Femmes were playing to win. Despite an MVP performance from Emily Millar and some hard running from her teammates, Cougars could not stop Millie Charlton from scoring the one and only goal of the game. Standout performances were from Violet Femmes’ Abbie Walton and Charli Windberg. Also in A grade, Robins defeated Nationals 3-1. Sharon DeCampo scored three goals for her team, while Kodie Brotherton struck the goal for Nationals. MVPs were Robins’ DeCampo, and Nationals’ Nadia Stoiche and Aleisha Stubberfield. In B grade, Cougars defeated Violet Femmes 1-0, while Robins defeated Nationals 1-0. Game MVPs were Robins’ Amanda Cutts and Cassidy Waters, Nationals’ Sydney Gibellini, Cougars’ Katie Crosby and Olivia Waugh, and Violet Femmes’ Amelie Henderson-Mott. Amanda Cutts scored the goal for Robins, while Jeanette Harris scored for Cougars. Next week’s fixtures: Saturday A-grade: Violet Femmes v Nationals (2pm) and Cougars v Robins (3.30pm). B-grade: Violet Femmes v Nationals (12.30pm) and Cougars v Robins (12.30pm).
