Community cropping program launched in Boyup Brook to enhance recreation facilities and engagement

A new community funding program aims to enhance and develop sport and recreation facilities within the Boyup Brook community. The Boyup Brook Sport and Recreation Association announced the launch of the Community Cropping Program. It will act as a sub-committee to leverage the resources and expertise of local farmers and businesses. The program will also aim to support the ongoing improvement of recreational spaces and community events while recognising the importance of fostering a healthy and active community. The CCP will seek donations and sponsors from various businesses and individuals, allowing the group to seed and harvest crops that will then provide the funds. CCP co-ordinator Wayde Robertson said the generosity of local farmers and businesses was pivotal to recreation in the region. “We are incredibly grateful for the support and generosity of our local farmers and businesses,” he said. “Their contributions will play a vital role in shaping the future of sport and recreation in Boyup Brook, ensuring that our community remains vibrant, inclusive and thriving.” Farmer Charles Caldwell said his involvement — which includes offering up land in conjunction with farmer Simon Purse — was to see improvements to the town. “I wanted to just to assist with the fundraising efforts to improve the sporting infrastructure at Boyup Brook, and we’re letting them use the land for the next three years and we’ll be helping with operations as well,” he said. “There are social and fundraising benefits with farmers and the community working together, and it’s just about bringing the sense of community on a project. “They need quite a bit of land to help raise funds for the infrastructure, which is why we’re letting them use as much land as we are.”
