Crowds flood in for Boyup Brook music fest

Country music brought Boyup Brook to life at the weekend, with thousands of people converging on the small country town for its 32nd annual Country Music Festival.
Despite the threat of flooding to the festival’s Music Park stage, the weekend went off without a hitch, with two stages constructed last minute on higher ground.

Australian Country music legend Lee Kernaghan headlined the festival, performing classic hits including Flying with the King and crowd favourite Boys from the Bush to an amped up crowd on Saturday night.

Friday night saw emerging talent recognised in the WA Country Music Awards where Karin Page was awarded Female Artist of the Year and Terry Bennetts took out Male Artist of the Year.

Emily Joy was crowned the Emerging Artist of the Year and the Music Group of the Year went to Margaret River-based band, Jason and the Stirling Rangers.

The Independent EP of the Year was awarded to Jonny Taylor with his creation I Believe in You, and Kate Linke won the Independent Album of the Year with The Girl I Am, produced by Moora’s Roger Corbett.
