Four Lower South West young guns starred for the Regional Districts side in the 2026 CBH Colts Championships division one competition.

The team was an outfit made up of players from associations that do not send a side to the championships and was relegated after not winning a game through the three round fixtures and going down to Peel in the third and fourth play-off.

Deanmill’s Kai McGinty and Riley Hetherington, Tigers’ Connor Brown and Boyup Brook’s Will Narducci all featured for the side that competed in division one.

Narducci was a focal point for the Red Dogs all carnival playing up forward, taking multiple pack marks on the wing to get his side out of trouble.

The Boyup Brook product kicked goals from all over the ground, including big bombs from a distance on day one when his side needed a settler or to continue their run of goals.

The key forward finished with five goals from four games.

McGinty was a standout through the middle of the ground all carnival, using his pace and running ability to get involved all over the field.

The Deanmill product showed his experience after being a part of last year’s team that earnt the promotion to division one.

Brown was named in the side’s best afield twice on day one, while McGinty and Narducci both featured once.

Coming up against last year’s premiers Peel in Friday’s third vs fourth relegation game Regional Districts were slow out of the blocks.

McGinty kicked the side’s opener four minutes from the goal square with fellow locals Narducci and Brown getting involved in the play earlier.

Even as Peel dominated the play early McGinty found the footy with ease, running hard to help his defenders then getting involved on attack.

The score was even at quarter-time but the classy Peel side got themselves going with four goals in quick succession late in the second to have a healthy 16-point lead at the main break.

Regional Districts fought hard through the third quarter, bringing the margin back to just six points with a quarter to play, but again the well-drilled Peel team kicked away in the end to finish 35-point victors.

The combined side will be sent back down to division two at next year’s carnival.
