LSWFL: Boyup Brook beat Bridgetown by 68 points, Deanmill defeats Kojonup by single point

Bridgetown were no match for Boyup Brook on Sunday afternoon when the two teams faced off at Bridgetown Sports Oval. The visitors quickly took the lead at the start of the match, booting four majors while Bridgetown kicked four behinds. The Roos continued their dominance in the match in the second quarter, scoring 7.3 (45) to the Bulldogs’ 3.0 (18) and heading into half-time with a 35-point lead. Boyup Brook were unstoppable once play resumed, booting 10 goals in the final two quarters compared to Bridgetown’s 7.6 (48). The Roos finished the game with a 68-point victory, 21.12 (138) to 10.10 (70). Boyup Brook’s David Cowan and Sam Garstone booted six goals each to make themselves the highest scoring players of the match. Deanmill travelled to Kojonup on Saturday, where they beat the home team by a single point. The visitors took an early lead in the clash, kicking four goals to the home side’s 2.3. The Cougars mounted a comeback in the second quarter, kicking 4.3 to the Hawks’ 2.4 and narrowly leading 6.6 (42) to 6.5 (41) at half-time. After the break, Kojonup extended their lead by kicking three goals but Deanmill remained within striking distance, booting two goals of their own. In the final quarter, the Hawks made a miraculous comeback, scoring five goals to finish the match a point ahead of the home team, 13.10 (88) to 13.9 (87). Deanmill’s Blake Rawson and Daniel Tamm joined Kojonup’s Lee Lucev in scoring three goals.
