LSWFL: Boyup Brook secure grand final spot, after knocking out Imperials with 12-point win

Boyup Brook Roos secured their place in the grand final with a 12-point preliminary final win over Imperials in Manjimup on Sunday. In the first quarter, Boyup Brook took an early lead, booting five majors, with Imperials answering with four goals. In the second quarter, both slowed, with the Roos booting 3.1 and Imperials managing 2.4. At half-time, Boyup Brook led by nine points, 8.5 (53) to 6.8 (44). After the main break Boyup Brook extended their lead with four goals, but their majors were matched by Imperials. A last ditch chase by the hosts was not enough to send them through to the big dance, falling by 12 points, 15.12 (102) to 13.12 (90). Boyup Brook’s day was helped along by David Cowan with six goals, and teammate Matthew Thompson who notched five majors.
