MNA: Champs live up to name as they beat Comets in Monday night match

The Champs lived up to their name on Monday night when they beat the Comets by 18 points during their round-three match at the Manjimup Recreation Centre. The first quarter began with both teams putting on a good front and remaining toe-to-toe throughout the quarter. However, Champs were able scrape through one point ahead of the Comets by the end of the quarter. Once in the lead, Champs gained momentum throughout the second quarter, with their offence players managing to get possession past the Comets’ defence to extend their lead, although Comets were able to net a few themselves. Champs had a nine-point lead by the end of the first half, with a half-time score of 24-15. During the final quarter, Champs were able to pick the momentum up once more and extend their lead through teamwork and strong offensive play. On the final whistle they had an impressive 18 points on the Comets, solidifying their second consecutive win, with a full-time score of 51-33. In the other matches, Cosmos defeated Sirens 36-34, Independents and Magpies drew 51-51, Aztecs beat Brace Yourself 37-21, and Saints won by default, as Astrix forfeited before their match.
