An infant child is in a critical condition at Perth Children’s Hospital following a serious crash on the South Western Highway. The incident occurred before 7.45am Tuesday morning near the intersection of Balbarrup Road in Palgarup, 9km north of Manjimup, with one truck and two cars involved. A woman in her 30s received only minor injuries, however, a baby was rushed to Manjimup Hospital before being transferred to Perth Children’s Hospital. Three ambulance crews, the RAC Rescue Helicopter and Major Crash Investigation Section officers have attended the scene. South Western Highway is closed in both directions, with motorists encouraged to take a detour via Donnelly Mill. Drivers of heavy vehicles are being asked to plan ahead and consider their vehicle’s weight and length before taking any detour. The closure is expected to be in place for several hours.
