Social dancing club to host ball at Manjimup Town Hall to raise funds for Royal Flying Doctor Service

The Bridgetown Social Dancing Club will host a ball at the end of August to raise funds for the Royal Flying Doctor Service. The Berry and Blush Ball will take place on August 31, with last year’s blue-themed ball in Bridgetown raising more than $2400 from ticket and raffle sales. Ball organiser Tony Magenta said this year’s ball shied away from their usual red theme for Manjimup, going for shades of pink instead. “Normally, we have a red theme in Manjimup and a blue theme in Bridgetown,” he said. “We want to go away from the blue and red, and that’s how we came to the berry and blush (theme).” The ball marks the 13th year the club has held the ball in Manjimup, with the COVID-19 pandemic resulting in a year being missed for the annual event. “The suppers are always magnificent, the ladies look magnificent in their gowns, as do the men in their suits,” Mr Magenta said. “The highlights of our balls have been our decorations, and we have someone who specialises in them.” He said the funds raised were for a cause “dear to his heart”, given his personal connection to the Royal Flying Doctor Service. “(The Royal Flying Doctors) took my wife up to Perth twice and (they have) affected the lives of many people,” Mr Magenta said. “If people are happy to come for an evening of entertainment, the money goes to a great cause.” Last year’s ball drew 85 attendees to the one-night event.
